Wonderful News

Marge, Andy and Pete were able to go into the ICU this evening to see Norm. When they walked in, they we're shocked to hear "Hi, guys!" Norm was awake, alert and happy to see them. He has full function of both legs, arms and seems to be doing better than anyone could imagine after just going through brain surgery. The nurses even let them turn on the football game (as long as they kept the sound low and no yelling at the refs!) There is also a rumor that the nurses somehow managed to log Norm in to the Kaiser work computer and he was "working" about an hour before his surgery this morning.
Needless to say we are thrilled than Norm came through the surgery so well. He is tired, but resting and has a wonderful team of nurses and doctors caring for him.
I also strongly beleive that all the positive energy flowing his way is helping give him the strength he needs to fight.
Marge is exhausted and going home tonight for the first time in a week. Pete will stay the night at the hospital to be with Norm.
Please keep Norm in your thoughts and prayers - there is still going to be a long road ahead.

We love you Norm!!!

Dear Norm and all the family,
We are sooooo happy to hear you did so well in surgery! Remember when we used the phrase "tough old Dutchman" about Dad? I think it's genetic. Keep up the good healing. I also hope you remembered to tell the surgeon, while he was in there anyway, to flip the loyalty switch from the Minnesota Vikings to the Green Bay Packers.
Wishing all of you rest, recuperation, support and love.
From your Wisconsin sister

Excellent to hear, Norm! We east-coasters have been sending some serious good energy your way; I feel like we managed to reverse the jet stream even. Keep up the good fight. We'll certainly keep up on our end. I'd throw in a football quip of my own, but unfortunately I've only got U Mich and the Lions to work with. Yikes.

Much much love from Tim, Kam, and Chuck.

Norm and family-

Wonderful news re: the surgery. I've transferred all my support and energy from Gopher football and basketball to you and your good health. Of course, I haven't had any luck with the Gophers for over 40 years so don't count on that too much. However, for back-up, I do have the Pink Sisters praying for you. You will do just fine!!

Love and prayers,

Mark

P.S. Maybe I should start having the Pink Sisters pray for the Gophers!

Dear Norm, Marge & family,

So happy to hear that the surgery is over and seemed to go so well!

The Corvallis Millers send good thoughts and prayers your way as you wait for the pathology report.

LOVE the photos of you and the fam, Norm! Of course, the pic with your Beaver hat on doesn't hurt anyone here in Corvallis - particularly today! People are generally upbeat even after the loss. After all, it's only a football game!

We will stay posted...
