Norm's co-workers at Drug Information met us just about every month for lunch or dinner while he was able to get out. He really looked forward to those meals, to talk "shop".
A special thanks to Pat and Carl, Vergenia and John and Judy whom I can never repay, if I live to be 100.
I have to thank my nursing career because even though I never wanted to be a nurse, I don't know if I could have kept Norm home until the end without that experience and confidence that I could do it. The Kaiser hospice team was there with us every step of the way and I knew that their help was just a phone call away.
Our family was so pleased with the service. It was a beautiful day and Norm would have been so touched by the wonderful turnout and sense of community.

Dear Marge and Family,
Although it was inevitable, we were saddened to read of Norm's passing last week. I had been checking into your wonderful and comforting blog site, usually every few days, but then began to dread opening to sad news. So it was not until yesterday afternoon that I realized he had passed on. It was good to hear that the gathering to celebrate his life did just that. We are so happy to have been able to spend time with you and Norm last year. I have admired you, Norm, and your family for your inspiring attitude all the while, and will carry your lessons on life and death with me.
I wanted to share something I sent to our Formulary group in California.
With Sympathy,
Debbie Kubota and Ken

Norm Muilenburg, my friend and DI "counterpart" in the Kaiser Northwest Region passed away last week, having been diagnosed with brain cancer around Thanksgiving 2009. My husband and I were guests of Norm and his gracious wife Marge last year on our trip to the Northwest. He was an amazing and knowledgeable person, who was capable of covering drugs from numerous therapeutic categories (not just Neuro/Psych) - and was always happy to share his information and writeups with everyone. I would be greeted almost daily with emails from Norm with the latest pertinent articles or news, and I always wondered how he managed to do so much work in so many areas and keep on top of it all. Even more admirable was his incredible unassuming and good nature, which made it easy for me to consult him for his much-valued opinions, which I did often enough. His DI co-workers dedicated their library to him - the Norm Muilenburg Drug Information Library.
So besides sending emails with new news to all of Drug Information in the NW. Norm also had Debbie Kubota on his list. Definitely the pharmacist's pharmacist.
